What this job is
A fallen trunk can still be under tension, especially if it is hung on a fence, a roof edge, or another tree. Cutting the wrong side of a bent stem is dangerous. The work is sectional: take the weight off the target, then buck the wood into pieces that can be moved.
The photograph shows a fallen trunk against a fence with barriers along a sidewalk. It was taken in the United Kingdom by Philip Halling and is used as a reference, not as a Tampa project.
How this differs from other pages
If the tree is still standing, it is not this page. A storm that left three trees and a yard of limbs is broader than one fallen stem. Use storm damage cleanup for that. A hazardous tree that has not fallen yet is emergency tree removal.
Typical situations
- The root plate has lifted and the trunk is across the yard.
- The tree is on a fence, a shed, a carport, or a roof.
- The driveway or a gate is blocked.
- Part of the crown is still attached to a standing stub.
If a power line is involved, call Tampa Electric at the emergency number the city publishes, 813-228-1111, before anyone cuts.
What changes the quote
- Diameter and length of what is down.
- What it is lying on, and whether that thing can be damaged further.
- Whether the root plate must be dealt with or only the trunk.
- Access for a truck, and how far the wood has to be carried.
- Haul-away versus firewood lengths left on site.
Fallen tree removal cost is not listed. A trunk in an open lawn and a trunk on a roof are not the same scope.
After the wood is agreed
The agreement should say whether the stump or root plate stays, whether the fence or roof is only cleared or also repaired, and who handles a contractor for the structure. Clearing a tree off a roof is not a roofing contract.
